I’m a joiner by trade and I trained as a cabinet-maker at the London School of Furniture. I went on to specialise in box sash windows. It was then I realised that curtains aren’t always the most suitable partner for windows. They can sometimes close a room in. While shutters can open up a room and fill it with diffused light, without being imposing or distracting.

And so, our shutter business was born. My wife and I are a double-act. Kim is the brains behind the operation and she makes sure everything runs like clockwork. Her brother Stephen is our fitter. Kim’s step mum helps with the shop and admin. Our daughter, Rachael, has even designed our Hare logo.
